Happy Sunday!
We had worshipers at all 3 services today! 2 at Blackwoods, 7 at Seawall, and 8 at Cadillac. Luke delivered his sermon/talk/message at all 3 services and did an excellent job each time. He talked about the boarder-less God we serve. He wrapped up the talk with his story of being at an international church in Ecuador on Easter Sunday while studying abroad. For 10 minutes or so congregants who spoke languages other than English or Spanish stood up and proclaimed, "Christ has risen today." Pretty powerful story and powerful sermon.
In between services we didn't do too much. Three cruise ships were in port today at Bar Harbor so we avoided the streets as much as possible. 5,000 cruise ship passengers mixed with the Sunday-of-Labor-Day-Weekend crowd made the streets a streaming mass of humanity. While holed up inside, Luke gave me a haircut. I look sharp once again.
We fully expected no one to show up for the sunset service because the sky was a clouded over and the winds were whipping rain drops in our faces at a high velocity. We decided to take advantage of the wicked winds and attempt to fly a kite. It didn't work so well. Gusty winds=unstable flying conditions for cheap flights.
Hardly anyone was at the summit during out kite-flying campaign. Nonetheless, we still put out the sign and erected the cross. Lo and behold, people started coming to us. It was such a cool experience to have more people on the overlook worshiping God than people simply enjoying the sunset. Usually, it is the other way around by far.
