Happy Tuesday!
Sorry for posting this so late. The company who provides us
internet went on strike again today. When they aren’t on strike, the internet
is still pretty spotty around here. Overall, though, it’s just an inconvenience
for me. The gift shop and restaurant, however, had a heck of a time today when
the workers went on strike and the cyber cloud dissipated. The managers
complained about getting blisters from having to manually run so many credit
cards.
This evening was the big “Survivor’s Party” for the Dawnland
employees who survived the summer season all the way until Labor Day. I’m not
sure how big the company is, but free pizza and drinks seemed to have brought a
lot of people out. The party started at
9:00pm to give the kitchen staff time to wrap things up and bake the pizzas
they made during the day. I heard they prepared a total of 60 pies but only
cooked 2/3 of them for the party. That’s alotta pizza
I had some really great conversations with the retail manager for
the company and a couple of the servers. Still, I left around 10:30 because, A)
I was pretty tired and wanted to get to bed at my normal bedtime of 11ish, and
B) by that point, things were getting too much “fun” for me.
Back at the dorm, I finally finished up the book on Scientology I
picked up from the used book sale at the library. It was the handbook for Scientologists written by L. Ron Hubbard
himself. I only understood about half of what he wrote, but it was interesting
nonetheless. I found no great revelation in the book, so I’m going to stick
with my faith in Christ.
Finally, today marks my three month anniversary with my job. Yeah!
